Khoiyachora Waterfall, Mirsharai, Chittagong
There are several waterfalls in our country. I have visited Madhabkunda and Subalong waterfall. This time I got the opportunity to visit Khoiyachhora. Khoiyachora waterfall is one of the most spectacular natural waterfall located in Mirsharai upazila, Chittagong. Going to see this kind of waterfall hiding in the midst of the nature is undoubtedly exciting. There are several waterfalls. We see two big waterfalls. First one is easier to go and most of the tourist goes there. Second one is very difficult and only few people can see that. Yes! there are more. You need to climb the second one to reach next.

Stay:
We stayed in Chittagong,  Hotel GoldenInn near the station road. You can stay in Chittagong and start in the early morning for the waterfall. There is no good quality hotel in Boro Takiya Bazar or in Mirsharai.

Food:
You can carry light food and drinking water. There are local restaurants available where you will find food in a reasonable price. Before we start we eat boiled egg and during our return we eat in a local restaurant probable cost us 50-60 tk per head. Our menu was rice, dal, mashed potato and chicken curry.

Note: Don’t through away water bottles and polyethylene bags near the waterfall.

Advise:
1. Car parking is available near Khoiyachhora. Parking fee 50 tk. Parking place to waterfall nearly one hour of walking distance.
2. For new visitors find other groups and follow them otherwise hire a local guide.
3. Don't forget to take bamboo stick. Keep unnecessary things like sandal, shoe, moneybag, watch etc inside the car or small shops in the parking area but take some money with you for lunch.
4. Take one or two polyethylene bag to save your mobile from water.
5. If you don’t know swimming avoid deep water.

About our journey:
We were in Chittagong for office work. 18th October while having our breakfast we decided to explore Khoiyachhora. It was a sudden plan and we have no idea about Khoiyachhora Waterfall.
From Dhaka to Dhaka - Chittagong highway first went to Mirsharai. After passing the Boro Takia Bazar bus stop there is BRAC office. After that office, the 1st narrow road that went to your left there is a bill board indicating Khoiyachhora. Car parking available near Khoiyachhora (parking fee 50 tk). You can also hire auto-rickshaw to go there. You can use google map or ask any local people to find the Khoiyachhora road.

For new visitors it is very common to lose your track. If you find other groups follow them otherwise hire a local guide. From Boro Takia Bazar, Sorna road we have hired a local guide to lead us to the waterfall. We have to pay 200 for his assistance.

Around 12.30 pm we started our tracking. Don't forget to take bamboo stick, on the way it will help you. Our guide manages the sticks for us. Normally it will cost 30 tk per stick. Keep unnecessary things like sandal, shoe, moneybag, watch etc inside the car or small shops in the parking area but take some money you might need if you want to eat. Take one or two polyethylene bag to save your mobile from water. Near waterfall there are small shops and on the way you will find restaurants for lunch. Lunch will cost probably 50 to 60 tk per head.

One hour of walk through the muddy land, water stream and rocky road we have reached our destination. Yes! It’s amazing. At the 1st look you will be astonished and forget all the hard work you have done to reach there. We found lots of people enjoying the waterfall.

First Waterfall in Khoiyachora

There is another waterfall on the top of it. After passing half an hour we started to climb the road beside the waterfall. This road is very dangerous and slippery. We use that rope to climb up. Reaching on the top of the first waterfall is not a easy task specially when the muddy road is wet and slippery. The guy with the bamboo stick was our guide. From the top we walk a little to reach the next one.

The second waterfall is more beautiful than the first one and there were nobody around us. It feels like we are in heavenly place. The only thing we can hear is the nature and the sound of the waterfall. It has three steps and each looks different than the other.

There are more waterfall on the top of the second one but we decided to return from there. We pass an hour, take shower. In the meantime some other groups join us and soon they move towards the third one. Climbing down is also very difficult. During climbing down we met other group who were climbing up from there. That group has two little girl with full of courage. They are climbing up wearing their sandals. Though we warn them but they didn't listen.

Around 3 we reached to the bottom. We pass another hour in the 1st waterfall. That time there was nobody around the waterfall. I took some video and picture for my blog. Our guide wanted to leave us so we pay him and let him go. On the way back we become little confuse whether we are on the right path or not. Luckily we return safe. There is a village restaurant where we took our lunch.

The road is full of adventure and risk. Surrounding area is beautiful. Small hill, green paddy fields, blue sky, house of the villagers and specially the water streams are wonderful. Nearby hills are like a area boundary.

On the way to the first waterfall we caught small shrimp from a water stream. Our guide collected all the shrimp in a polyethylene bag and took them for cooking. We also wash ourselves from a water stream.
